Power!

When you have a baby there are days you can get something done, and there are days when NOTHING gets done. Bug is an 'ok' napper. He will crash, but sometimes it's 20 minutes and sometimes it is 2 hours. If you have a baby you know the feeling of rushing around and trying to get something done in those brief baby-free minutes.

In the past week we have lost power three times. Each time we've lost power it was out for around 4 hours. In one storm we had before Thanksgiving we lost it for 12 hours....people up the road lost it for 8 days. 8 DAYS!!! It was -35 that week. I would have packed a bag and headed to the airport. No way, no how.

Anyway, since we've had a lack of power, now when Bug goes down I think to myself, what do I need to do while we have power that I can't do in the dark (and it's dark almost the whole day minus about 5/6 hours.)

While I'm doing this I think to myself, what in the hell have I gotten myself into now...

It felt the coldest today since we moved here. The -35 was cold, not going to lie, but -35 windchill is about a bazillion times worse. I am still cold. It was only 0 today, so that wasn't too bad until the icy winds from hell hit you.

  1. Negative 35? NEGATIVE 35? My brain hurts trying to figure out how to survive in that kind of environment. Do you not have a generator? I assumed it would be a requirement to have living in Alaska. You are a much, much stronger person that I am, I wouldn't be able to do it.

  2. I think I need to stop complaining about being cold. I cannot even imagine what life in Alaska is like, and while I can totally understand being without electricity :) I have no idea how you handle it in weather like that. How long until you come running back to the warmer states?!?!
