I "think" that I was 7 when my mom taught me to crochet. She was a Home-Ec teacher so I learned to sew, and crochet when I was really young. I would like to say I learned to cook too when I was young, but after the sandwich-maker-upside-down-on-the-linoleum-incident, I was banned from the kitchen for a few years.
One thing that I have never learned to do is knit. It looks like so much fun, and I really want to learn. Starting in November I am taking a three day knitting class. I'm pretty excited. 1. I get out of the house sans infant, 2. I get to make something. How much fun is that?
In the meantime, I made myself a headband (crocheting) for the winter. It's hot pink (for those of you who know me, you'll find that as no surprise.)
